The Shortlist: Five Sydney Evan Pieces Miley Would Approve Of

On May 7, Hollywood’s crème de la crème flocked to the red carpet for a viewing of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. While most opted for dramatic wardrobes, others, like Miley Cyrus, chose to tap into the theme in a more subtle way. Putting her tattoos on full display, she was clad in a black, custom-made Stella McCartney backless gown with a plunging neckline and a train that draped around her feet like the base of a wine glass.

At first, perhaps, her quiet nod to the afternoon might have gone unnoticed. But in taking a closer look, particularly at the pop of gold wrapped around her neck, it became a lot more obvious. Paying homage to the theme with the best-known symbol of the church, she completed her skin-baring look with jewelry by Sydney Evan—a bezel hooped earring with a dangling cross, a pyramid spike cross charm, a yellow-gold and diamond pave chain link ring and a necklace.

The ensemble of jewelry by the LA-based brand—which was originally founded by Rosanne Karmes in 2001—was equal parts striking and understated. The necklace, for example, doesn’t steal the show. It merely narrates it, speaking volumes on the look’s elegance and verve. Inspired by Miley, we’ve gathered a few of our other favorite items off the designer’s online store that we think are worthy of an “Amen.”
